Memorial Day Weekend

Last weekend was Memorial Day Weekend. Rick had planned a weekend with his parents in Farmington, so I wanted to find something fun for the kids and I to do. A bunch of friends from church invited us to go camping with them. After they explained where we would be going...I was totally in! To be honest, I'm not even sure you can call it camping because we were totally spoiled. We had air conditioned cabins and they fed us!!! We went to Collin County Adventure Camp in Anna. It was only 25 minutes from home, but once we were there it felt like we were far far away in a beautiful area! We went up Friday night and sat around a camp fire. Believe it or not the weather was absolutely PERFECT!!! The kids ran around playing all kinds of games and loved every minute of it! We woke Saturday morning to an egg breakfast and was ready for a full day ahead. The kids all had friends their ages, which meant we didn't see much of Jordan. She was off with her "possie" most of the time. I was lucky to see her! The little kids and I started the day off with Rock Climbing. Paige and Chase were super excited to give it a try...Cody had second thoughts! Paige got ready first...honestly I wasn't sure she was going to make it all the way to the top...The wall was pretty high! I was so proud of Paige...she climbed like a champ and made it all the way to the top!Chase climbed like a pro. He sped up the wall so fast, I couldn't believe it! After climbing the wall, we headed over to Archery and to shoot some BB's. Paige got the hang of it pretty fast! Chase did great! Cody totally surprised me! He held the bow like he had done it before. He worked so hard to get that arrow to stick! He did awesome! A bunch of his arrows stuck - and he almost got one in the yellow! After we were done with Archery, we headed to shoot some BB Guns! What little kid doesn't love that??? The kids were pretty hot after working so hard, so before lunch we had a chance to jump into the pool. The boys were having fun playing catch and diving for the football. Cody almost got that one! Nice split buddy! Nice catch Chase!!Paige enjoyed the slide! Let me just say, how nice it was to just go from one activity to the next, and not have to worry about getting food ready. As soon as we walked out of the pool, off to lunch we went. Chicken, pork loin, sausage, mashed potatoes....yum, yum!!!!
After lunch...back to the pool we went! We even had time for a game of Putt Putt. Dinner was a Mexican Fiesta, then off to our own private canoe and fishing session! Canoeing was so much fun...I can't even remember the last time I went canoeing. We had about 7 canoes or so out and enjoyed seeing who could get each other the wettest!!! (I think Jordan and I lost!) Jordan decided to bail and climbed into another canoe, so the boys and I decided to give fishing a try. This place was so great, they had everything...fishing poles and the bait. (leftover sausage). All the kids were determined to catch a fish...Chase worked so hard, but decided to grab a net and catch some minnows for us! Cody caught the first fish, and then another. He loved catching them, but didn't want to get too close! I actually even held the fish and tried to take it off the hook...no luck - I had to call for back up! Paige wasn't going to leave until she caught one, so we were all VERY happy when she finally caught her fish! When we got back to camp, the kids played capture the flag for what seemed like hours. We built a campfire and enjoyed sitting around visiting. We woke up Sunday morning to an awesome breakfast of eggs, ham, omlets, crepes, cinnamon rolls...you name it - they had it! Sadly, it was time to clean up and say good-bye. All the kids helped load up the car and clean up the cabin. We couldn't leave without a final farewell!! We had such a great time! It was the perfect get-away!!

Once we got home, we rushed to get ready for church, then headed off to grandma and grandpa's house to spend some time with them. We love having grandma and grandpa so close!

Monday morning our ward had a "Breakfast and Fun Run!" The Fun Run was a 3 mile run. Jordan, Davey, Bub, and I decided we would go for it and run. The little kids didn't want to be left out, so we loaded up their bikes and they rode next to us! The run was great! Let me just say the last hill at the very end was a killer!!! But - we did it! Some good friends also ran it...way to go Aprille and Wendy - we are totally signing up for a 5K soon!!!We had a great weekend! Fun, Friends and Family!!! The only thing that could have made it better was if Rick was with us...BUT - I'm glad he was able to spend time with his family and get some golfing in!!!
