Off We Go.....

With the new year, starts fun new activities for the kids. The boys have been working really hard in basketball. They have had a couple of games now, and are doing great! Both Chase and Cody are on Maverick teams! This is Cody's first year playing and it has been a blast watching him play. He has managed to score in all three games. (which at this age anyone scoring is an achievment) Rick has taken on the role of assistant coach and is enjoying watching Cody progress each week. Chase is such a constant player. Always where he needs to be doing what he needs to be doing!

Paige had the opportunity last weekend to take part in the school Talent Show. She and some kids from church decided to enter a little dance in the talent show. They did AMAZING! They were called the "glow glow girls!" They all dressed in black and outlined themselves with glow sticks to look like stick figures. All the lights were out, so all you saw was their stick figure shape while they were doing the dance. IT WAS AWESOME!! THE HIT OF THE NIGHT (if I do say so myself!)

Jordan played in her first high school softball game tonight! The game was a scrimmage, but so fun to watch. Jordan played second base for most of the game. One inning, she wasn't out at second base...I figured she was swapping out with someone - You can imagine my surprise when she came walking out with the catchers equipment on! She did pretty good for someone that has never really caught before! She also did great batting! I was so nervous for her, but she stepped in that batters box and went for it on the very first pitch. She got a hold of it, and for a moment looked like a great hit....BUT - the center fielder caught it. DARN! It was so fun to watch her playing. I am so excited for her to have such a fun experience! Being part of a school team is great! After her game she took off to grab her stuff in the locker room. Varsity was on the field warming up and the next thing I know, Jordan runs by me telling me she was asked to sit with the varsity team for the game. How exciting for her! I figured she would for sure be sitting. Watching and learning from the girls....but she actually got to be the pitch runner and she even scored with a great slide at home. Congrats Jordan! Great start sweetie! Keep it up! There is a lot to be learned from your coaches and other players on the team.

The kids keep our lives interesting and exciting! I love watching the children learn and grow in so many areas. As parents we teach them things we feel they should know. But there is so much to be learned when being on a team or involved in outside activities. They must learn to listen, show respect, work hard and work well with others. These are life lessons that I am grateful they are learning.
